Austin company has an immediate need for someone for a 6+ month
contract. Qualified candidate will have four or more years Java
experience, including 2 years of Java Swing experience along with
strong J2EE and OO Design and development experience. Candidate will
join an existing team as a developer. The existing team has no room
for code cowboys. Client is under Architectural constraints that must
be followed. However, the advanced architecture is on the project's
strong points.

Responsibilities:

-Design, Debug, and implement Java Software
-Perform unit test of modules
-Integrate modules written by other devlopers
-Use a configuration management system

Candidate must be proficient in OOA/OOD, UML, XML, J2EE, Swing,
Excellent communication skills, Team Player attitude, Knowledge of
class modeling and attention to detail. RUP experience is highly
desired.

Desired skills:
Sun Java Certified, Systems life cyle development, Experience building
and implementing a regression test suite

Statement of
"The existing team has no room for code cowboys."
is the opposite of whom is needed. IMHO
Suggested under requirements:
-Perform unit test of modules
-Integrate modules written by other developers

If there is current development, a very good and safe bet
the current modules integration are poor.
If no middle layer, one has to be made from scratch. Secret here
it a *actual code'er will have to write the methods or code* for to
be implemented properly. "Certified" is no guarantee the person"
may or not write actual source code. <g>
Tight coupling makes the source code difficult to manage or debug.

BTW: I have seen this type of post and problem from several companies.
